TASER Gun Is Not A Firearm

Tuesday, March 1, 2011 @ 12:03 AM

What is a TASER? A firearm is a device that uses pressure from a burning powder to force a projectile down and out of a metal tube. The key words are burning and powder, hence the name “fire-arm”. An armament that uses fire. So the TASER gun is not a firearm. A gun has a barrel but may not necessarily use fire from a burning powder. An air gun is an example of a gun that is not a firearm.

When the first TASERs were being developed in the seventies, they used .22 Long Rifle cases to propel the darts toward an attacker. At that point the ATF considered the TASER to be a firearm and the same purchase requirements. Later the TASER was developed with compressed air and nitrogen which declassified it as a firearm. Today you may purchase a TASER over the counter or online unless you live in a Police State.

What’s the Difference?

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 @ 12:02 AM

A frequent question heard regarding TASER weapons is; “What is the difference between the Police TASERs and the civilian TASERs?” There is not much difference between the two at all.

The Police model TASER devices can only be purchased by government organizations. The differences are not enough to warrant wanting a Police TASER over a civilian model. The government model TASER guns can increase your liability risk. The Police TASER weapons simply shoot 25-30 feet instead of the 15 ft reach allowed for the civilian TASERS. Another key difference is the ability of law enforcement to control the length of shock, a feature that has lead to the deaths you hear about. Unlike the civilian TASER guns that will automatically pulse allowing the defender to set the TASER down and get away, the Police model TASER guns will continue to shock until the law enforcement officer releases the trigger.

Activating Your TASER

Saturday, February 12, 2011 @ 12:02 AM

TASER C2 BlueUnlike stun guns that can be used immediately, TASER Devices require a back ground check. In addition to the background check, the TASER C2 requires activation prior to use. The process is simple.

The first step is to purchase your TASER Weapon from a good dealer like www.showcasestunguns.com or www.rightofdefense.com . Once your Taser Device arrives, you will need to contact TASER International to initiate a background check. The background check usually takes 24-48 hours to complete.

When your background check is complete, TASER International will send you an activation code and instructions for your TASER C2.

TASERS and Stun Guns Part 1

Thursday, February 10, 2011 @ 11:02 PM

TASER GunThere are lots of questions regarding the difference between TASERS and stun guns. There is quite a bit of misinformation being circulated and with this series of articles I hope to clear up some of it up.

TASER is a trademark name just like Kleenex, it is simply a brand. But the name TASER is used exclusively by TASER International, Inc. for their class of patented and exclusive weapons. Unlike stun guns, TASER Guns use compressed gas to discharge and propel two electrified darts that stick into the skin of an attacker. The TASER gun darts’ subcutaneous penetration increase the effectiveness of the delivered shock. This allows TASER devices to be much lower voltage and eliminates the need to make direct contact with specific target areas of the body. The TASER gun can be pointed at any part of the attackers body with full effectiveness.

The TASER Design Used By Police Worldwide

Thursday, December 2, 2010 @ 12:12 AM

A TASER weapon is a device that shoots electrified darts at an attacker using compressed gas, unlike a stun gun which is a direct-contact TASER Gunstun device.

The TASER weapon used by Police worldwide is the TASER M26 and the model available to the civilian market is the TASER M26C. The TASER M26C is characterized by a design that mimics that of a pistol. The TASER M26C is held, aimed and fired just as a pistol would be. Instead of shooting a bullet, the TASER M26C fires two darts that are connected to the unit with shielded conductive wire. The wires on the TASER M26C are 15 feet in length, which is the maximum distance it can be fired. Military and Police models fire up to twice that distance.

Upon being fired, the trigger mechanism releases the compressed nitrogen which is used to propel the two electrified darts of the TASER M26C. The TASER M26C darts can penetrate up to two inches of clothing. The TASER M26C will then begins to fire a 5-10 second pulse causing what TASER International, Inc. calls Neuro Muscular Incapacitation (NMI). When the TASER Air Cartridge containing the darts opens, tiny tags containing the serial number of that particular cartridge are also released. The serial number gives law enforcement the owner’s information. Consequently, this brings up the need to register your TASER M26C before it is activated by TASER International, Inc. TASER International, Inc. will also conduct a background check and charge an additional fee for conducting that background check. Retailers do not usually offer refunds on TASER Weapons for failed background checks.

The TASER M26C Air Cartridge can be removed and the TASER M26C used as a direct stun device, similar to a low-power stun gun.

Defend From A Distance With The TASER C2

Friday, October 8, 2010 @ 10:10 PM

One of the biggest complaints about stun guns I hear is that you need to be close enough to touch yourTASER C2 Blue attacker. Obviously we would prefer to keep an attacker as far from us as possible.

Enter the TASER C2. A TASER device differs from a stun gun in that it shoots two darts at an attacker using compressed air. The darts are attached to the hand unit with small wires which are used to transfer the electrical charge to the attacker. The TASER C2 is by far the most popular TASER device in part because of it relatively low price and compact design.  The TASER C2 weapon has  an effective range of 15 feet and most models come with a laser pointer to help you aim the TASER gun.

The TASER C2 can also be used as a stun gun by removing the air cartridge that contains the darts. All TASER devices will require an additional fee for  a background check through TASER International prior to activation.
